Movies are how society evolves and the reason most of us are glued to some of them is because, most films or however you call them, represent an element of ‘us’, one way or another. There are stories of those movies that disgust whereas others have the power to change lives. This article looks at the 20 movies that are would change your life. Some titles will be covered in detail, although some will be just titles for you to check out after this read.

  1. The Shawshank Redemption – Given, there is no movie that will ever beat ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ as the most inspiring movie. Especially if you come from a difficult point or need some inspiration against all odds, this is the title for you.
  2. Rocky 4 – Although quite old-school for the new generation, Rocky 4 is not your average Sylvester Stallone/ Rambo movie. It’s damn inspirational. It’s especially great if you fall from grace and need some motivation to get back up
  3. Life Is Beautiful – This is a Nazi title but it evokes the passion and love that needs to be in life to any viewer.
  4. Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai – This is a great film you will definitely like because of the crusader versus mob interplay. It’s pretty great and inspires the little actions you can choose to change the world.
  5. Invictus – Although you might declare me a Morgan Freeman freak, ‘Invictus’ is a great title about the global icon: Nelson Mandela. It’s a movie that can change your life because of the power of the figure it portrays.
  6. The Thin Red Line – I must state now, that I am a sucker for Sean Penn films, but this war epic, is the bomb. It will engage, frighten and suspend you, until it hurts. It inspires the need to live with a cause, bravery and so much more. It could change your life.
  7. The Dark Knight – This series of movies have sort off come and stuck. Now in its third part, the ‘The Dark Knight’ is a great title for those people who believe they are born with a greater purpose in the world.
  8. Saving Private Ryan – Although you only get to see Matt Damon near the end of the film, it’s worth the wait. Besides, the message it carries is definitely bigger for a military title.
  9. I Am Sam – With such a title, this is film fits the deal as you navigate into the value of love and family, in a way that’s not easy to understand. It can change your life.
  10. The Adjustment Bureau – It could be the great speeches in the film or rather, the odds Matt Damon beats the odds or rather fate to unite with the love of his life and leadership. It’s definitely worth checking out.
  11. The Pursuit of Happyness – of all Will Smith movies I know, this is the one that can change your life, the most. Given, it’s a sad and depressing movie. However, there are so many things you can learn from this film.
  12. The Four Feathers – It’s a great movie about a coward who redeems himself.
  13. Fight Night – This one is a great classic about a girl who against all odds defeats a man who maimed her tongue. Vengeful, but amazing.
  14. V for Vendetta – This is the most engaging film I have ever watched and it should have been #1. The conversations are just amazing, philosophical, deep, with a cause, frightening, yet highly motivating.
  15. Saw – In a scary way, saw can be a life changing movie. It’s a karma begets karma kind of movie but with a life changing horrific dimension.
  16. Braveheart – This is a great film about courage and bravery
  17. Gladiator – This is a gladiator film starring Russell Crowe. It’s a classic.
  18. 300 – This is just a film that had so much philosophy, character and strength that have the ability to rub on you.
  19. Troy – This is another great film with soul. You will feel an impact after it’s done.
  20. The Company Men – This is a Ben Affleck movie in which one moment you are an executive in a huge corporate and the next you are out on the street. It’s a great life changing movie.
